The client envisioned a space that captured the spirit of the Old West, while also serving as a welcoming retreat for visiting family with young children. To support both character and functionality, we incorporated custom bunk beds, a compact kitchenette, and a private toilet closet—creating a space that is both distinctive and thoughtfully designed for comfortable stays. Much of the lumber had been collected over the past 40 years. The wainscoting was crafted from old farm fencing and garden signage, the deck was built from a mix of reclaimed boards in varying sizes, and the railing was made from rough-sawn yellow cedar milled by the client’s grandfather. Even the wood for the table and chairs in the bunkhouse were thoughtfully upcycled from years past.
